Maui - Day 7 Tidepools and Sunsets
It was a clear, blue, beautiful Saturday so we tried again to go snorkel in tidepools. We went to some different ones because the path of the last one was overgrown by cacti and we all got scraped up.
When we got to these ones we weren't disappointed! The waves were still pretty high, but we jumped in anyway. Breyden said if they were any bigger he wouldn't do it. We got a couple of teally big ones that pushed us around. But it was so clear and pretty! At one spot it was about 8-10 feet deep and Denali wanted jump in, so Breyden did it with her. There were smaller tidepools next to the big one with waterfalls trickling in and they were so pretty!
We only had about an hour there before we needed to go to Kaanapali beach. So we packed it up and hiked it back. Except I hung back waiting for Kinley and Adam and I didn't see everyone else turn the corner, I led them a different way and about 5 mins later Kinley said we were going to wrong way. We turned around and found Brin, she had decided to come back yo look for us. I was so glad she listened to the promptings!! We were only about 10 mins behind. We had 20 mins to change out of our wet suits and get ready for a sunset sail.
Kaanapali is a sensitive area. It is next to Lahaina and a lot residents that were displaced from the fires are living in tents there. However, they just recently opened up to tourism, so it's a bit touchy.
Unfortunately, the boat docket booked up and could only take 5 of us. Brin said she was sick so she stayed back with Breyden and Jennie while the rest of us jumped on as stowaways.
We enjoyed a nice ride up the coast of Maui and back. There was a beautiful rainbow when we left, and the sun was setting when we returned. We had POG with pineapple and bbq pork sliders, chicken kabobs, cucumber and carrot slices with hummus and a pumpkin cupcake for dinner. They were short on plates so we all split 2 plates, which was fine because Adam would only eat the chicken and cupcake anyway.
When we got back, and met Brin and the others we watched the sunset. Then, walking back to the truck we went through Whalers Village, a shopping center with a big Christmas tree. Christmas decorations are few and far between here. It is really strange and it doesn't feel like Christmas at all. We are just soaking it all in!
