  • If you had one final lecture to share with a group of students on what you have learned from this course, what would you share?
  • What would be your last bit of advice to someone wanting to begin the entrepreneur journey?
  • What words of advice, direction, or caution would you give him or her if you had only one chance to give your own last lecture?

I have the disadvantage of looking at this course from hindsight. I am almost a century old (as my husband loves to remind me) and have had several life experiences with which to compare to the Hero's Journey. If I had had this course to structure and pattern my life with, I think I might have made some different choices. Or if not different, I would have approached them differently. Namely, going into business with friends to open a restaurant.
This course has taught me that although it is important to be willing to take the risks no one else is, it is more important to plan out the risks before diving in. Creative planning, knowing who you are and what your values are, and most importantly who you are willing to share those risks with will help greatly in being successful in any endeavor.  Make sure that you are treating your companions with respect and gratitude because they are going to have to put up with you, support you and at times comfort you through your life's journey.
Make the journey fun. Enjoy every step of the climb. You can get discouraged and think you have failed when things go wrong, or you can look at it as an opportunity to make corrections or if needed change course completely. But know that you will never be in that spot again. Be sure to recognize God's hand in your life. Be happy that He has allowed you to take this journey in the first place and know that He is guiding you the whole way if you will only listen for His promptings.
Beware of any opportunities that seem "too good to be true." They always are and they will come with a price. Trust in your mentor's council and make sure your companions are all in as well. Never try to go it alone or let your pride take over in making decisions.
Most importantly, "Be still and know that I am God." Psalms 46:10
