Big Island - Last day
Our last day we only had one part of the Big Island left to explore. The Northwest tip by Hawi. So we loaded up the Jeep again. By the end of the week we put over 800 miles on the rental!
The next town, Kapaau was the home of King Kamehameha and had the original statue. I was on with Sierra and showed her as we drive by abs Pax wanted to see, but was in the back of the car, so I sent him a picture.
Our first stop was an ancient fishing village called Lapakahi. We weren't feeling up to any real hiking, so we kept it short.
Kinley planned our day, so it was full of shopping in cute towns, art galleries, ice cream, and gorgeous views! It was a perfect day. The first town was Hawi. It was awesome!
This guy had the only bathroom in town open to the public - as long as they bought something first. It was a bit pricey, but they make it fresh there everyday and the flavors were all unique to the island. Lemon and Lilaqoui...yummy!
The Santa hat was one of the only Christmas decorations in the town.
These baskets are all made of wire!! They were amazing!
I loved this unique chess set!
We went across the street to the shop, but first I had to promise to only window shop. Unfortunately I kept my word and just took pictures of everything I would have bought! Lol!
I would have bought this shirt for Adam.
This ornament for me, if I hadn't already bought 3 of them!
These photos of lava.
This adorable book and t-shirt for Paxton.
The cute baby turtles (honu) in the egg and the manta rays. But I kept my word!
Then we went to an art gallery. Then we ate some Pb&j instead of Hawaiian BBQ which we could smell from the street, and headed to the next stop.
Polulu was an overlook stop or a 2 mile hike with a steep decline to the beach and a steep uphill on the way back. We declined and enjoyed the view from the top.
The view in the backup cam when we parked was amazing too!
We considered driving another hour to Waimea for a world famous bakery, but the girls, of course, wanted to go back and swim at the beach, so we headed back to club wyndham. By the time we finished our Spaghetti dinner and gathered for family time, it was pouring rain. So Adam decuded we should have family time in the hot tub. I was not really thrilled about this, but Adam throws out the making memories crap, and away we go!
It was a petty cool memory.
