The 3 articles that I really enjoyed this week were An Attitude of Gratitude buy Pres. Thomas S. Monson, The YouTube video of Avoiding The Wrong Job, and the Case study of Randy Haykin.
President Monson talks about showing gratitude to those people that have influenced your life. Namely, your mother, your father, your teachers, your friends, our country, and our Savior.
"We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues."
Stan Christensen in Avoiding the wrong job teaches that a lot of people end up in the wrong job because they do what they think will get them farthest. When building a resume, don't do things because you think other people want to. Find what you are passionate about and find others with the same passion. Don't spend years doing something you find painful just to get to the next level. Pick something you think is fun.
He also teaches that it is not always a good thing to specialize in something. Eventually what you specialize in will become irrelevant. put yourself in a position to take advantage of opportunities when they come up.
I really liked this video because he just talked so real with us. He told it straight and up front.
I liked the case study about Randy Haykin mostly as he talked about being a leader as the creative director of an idea. That appeals to me because the idea of work is not something I want to do, but being creative is something that energizes me.
