Plato - First and best victory is to conquer self; to be conquered by self is of all things the most shameful and vile.
DaVinci - you will never have a greater dominion than that over yourself...the height of success is gauges by self mastery, the depth of failure by self abandonment...this law is an expression of eternal justice. He who cannot establish dominion over himself will have no dominion over others."
Solomon - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. Proverbs 16:32
Strait and narrow the way
-guarantees victory and achieve goal
able to concentrate
Narrow - some think it confines us. does not fetter or shackle mankind. way to independence and liberty
-Nature never pays an unearned credit/never fails to pay one earned
Success in any field - determine while young to be a great man. Courage, strength, determination, discipline yourself, apply self control/mastery
Be clean and worthy - grandson 100%er church attendance. Sacrificed things - not difficult to discipline himself and do the right thing -Sierra baseball championship
Keep word of wisdom strictly
Keep sabbath day
be honest in all dealings
discipline in every way
If you never take the first, you will never take a second.
Entrepreneurship and Family - Steve Banks
Asked how to balance family life with boundaryless ent. life
single and want to do start ups - stay single
make rules - dinner every night at 7pm put kids to bed and go back to work
Loyalty to God and family - Jan Newman
don't grow business at all costs
balance - all hobbies, family, business fit in insane amount of time
can't crunch loyalty to Lord, spouse and family
don't ever be too busy for callings in church
when you need Lord's help you'll know where your heart is
deal with callings as they come
have a good spouse
calculus- the lord needs you to do your home teaching
requires "willing heart and mind"
greatest legacy will be family, loyalty to Lord
Integrity - you stick out - people like it
