Girls Camp 2022 - Moana

Our theme for 2022 was "Come what may, I know the way." from the Disney movie Moana. I took a lot of my ideas from The Crafting Chicks https://thecraftingchicks.com/moana-themed-girls-camp-hats/

The scripture we used was the youth theme Proverbs 3:5-6

Our camp was called Camp Kakamora after the little coconut pirates. We stayed in our new pop-up trailer at the campground and decorated for a luau using palm trees, flower lays, paper lanterns, grass skirts, and a banner saying Camp Kakamora. We planned for 3 days of camp, but the girls wanted to continue for another 2 days.

Kinley painted these adorable Kakamora water bottles.

On our first day to introduce our theme we talked about baby sea turtles and how when they hatch on shore, they instinctively know that they need to go to the water and where the water is. It is a dangerous journey as birds and predators are watching for them and few of them survive. We talked about how the Holy Ghost leads us where we need to go. We gave them their Camp Bag and hats, and did a craft painting our sails to post. Other crafts were bracelets and henna tattoos.

They did 3rd year certifications led by Kinley including orienteering, making shelters, preparing and cooking over a fire, knife sharpening and care, waterproofing matches, first aid, and water safety.

For our water safety, we went to Lake Springfield and had a picnic and kayaked.

In the evenings we had a luau, played star tipping, went for a glow swim and watched movies in the trailer.
Our last night, we gave Brin and Nali their own version of the You're Welcome song and Kinley and I tried to perform them which was hysterical.

Kinley made everyone a special heart of Tafiti necklace and I got a stingray because I was the Village Crazy Lady.

As usual, we ended with our back-to-school, "There's just no telling how far I'll go" theme, father's interviews and blessings, and school pics.
